Autel MaxiBAS BT609 – Battery Tester with Vehicle Diagnostics
The Autel MaxiBAS BT609 is an advanced diagnostic tool designed for testing batteries, starting and charging systems, and vehicle electronic systems. It combines the capabilities of a professional battery tester with Autel’s vehicle diagnostic functions, allowing technicians to assess the condition of the vehicle’s electrical system and perform selected service procedures. The device uses Adaptive Conductance technology to provide a more accurate assessment of battery health, cold cranking performance and reserve capacity. The tester features a 7-inch touchscreen, Android 9.0 operating system and a wireless VCI diagnostic interface. With AutoVIN and VINScan, users can quickly identify vehicles and access information useful for battery selection and diagnostics.
Key Features
- Battery health testing – evaluates battery condition and starting performance.
- CCA measurement – tests 12 V batteries rated from 100 to 3000 CCA.
- Reserve capacity assessment – analyzes parameters important for battery performance.
- Starting system testing – checks starter operation and evaluates parameters during engine cranking.
- Charging system testing – checks alternator performance and the vehicle’s charging system.
- Temperature compensation – takes temperature into account when assessing battery condition.
- Test reports – allows users to save, share and print results using a compatible external device.

Supported Battery Types
The tester supports the following lead-acid battery types:
- Flooded – conventional batteries with liquid electrolyte.
- AGM – batteries using Absorbent Glass Mat technology.
- AGM Spiral – spiral-cell AGM batteries.
- EFB – Enhanced Flooded Batteries, commonly used in vehicles with Start-Stop systems.
- GEL – gel batteries.
Supported battery rating standards: CCA, CA, MCA, JIS, DIN, SAE, IEC, EN, EN2, BCI and GB.
Vehicle Diagnostics
In addition to battery testing, the Autel MaxiBAS BT609 provides diagnostic capabilities for vehicle electronic systems through a wireless VCI interface.
Available functions include:
- AutoSCAN – automatically scans available vehicle systems.
- Read and clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) – identifies and clears fault codes stored in vehicle control units.
- Live Data – monitors real-time data transmitted by vehicle control units.
- AutoVIN and VINScan – identifies the vehicle and retrieves information needed for diagnostics.
- Service functions – provides access to supported maintenance procedures and service indicator resets.
The availability of individual functions depends on the vehicle’s make, model, model year, equipment and diagnostic software version.
Battery Registration and Replacement
The MaxiBAS BT609 supports procedures related to battery replacement in modern vehicles. In vehicles equipped with an energy management system, replacing the battery may require registration or adaptation in the vehicle’s control unit. The tester allows technicians to perform supported new battery registration procedures, helping the charging system adjust to the newly installed battery. The device also displays battery location diagrams and instructions to help prepare for testing.
Test Reports and Connectivity
The tester allows users to generate battery test reports and share them with customers. With Wi-Fi connectivity, reports can be transferred and the device’s online functions can be accessed. Reports can also be saved and printed using a compatible external device. The MaxiBAS BT609 does not have a built-in printer.
